Privacy policy

Last updated October 23, 2026. It covers the Weffic app for iPhone and this website.

The short version

  • Everything you enter is stored on your iPhone, and copied to your own iCloud Drive while iCloud backup, a part of Weffic Plus, is on. There is no sign-in, and Weffic has no server that keeps a copy.
  • Other than Apple's iCloud and App Store, Weffic asks the internet for public exchange rates. Nothing about you or your money goes with the request, and you can turn it off.
  • If you agree, Weffic also sends a crash report when something goes wrong. A report holds nothing you've entered and nothing that says who you are, and you can change your answer at any time.
  • No ads, no tracking, and nothing is sold or shared.

What Weffic keeps, and where

Everything you enter stays in Weffic's own space on your iPhone: accounts and their balances, transactions, categories, plans, loans, holdings, receipts, and your settings. Weffic cannot see any of it.

  • People you lend to or borrow from are names you type in yourself. Weffic does not read the contacts on your iPhone.
  • A receipt is read by your iPhone itself. The photo and its text never leave it.
  • If you set up Apple Pay in Weffic, the Shortcuts app on your iPhone hands Weffic the details of a payment, such as the store, the amount and the card's name. That happens on your iPhone.
  • Widgets read a small file Weffic writes on your iPhone.

What leaves your iPhone

Weffic asks the internet for exchange rates. When Weffic opens it downloads a file of the day's rates, and of any past months your history needs. The request says which day's rates it wants and nothing else: no account, no amount, and nothing that identifies you. The file is public, and the same for everyone who asks.

The file is served by two delivery networks, jsDelivr and, if that one fails, Cloudflare Pages. Like any site you visit, they see the internet address a request comes from.

You can stop these requests in Settings › Currency by turning off Update rates on launch.

If you agree to send them, crash reports go to Sentry. They are described below, under What Weffic receives.

Everything else goes to Apple, under your Apple Account: the copies iCloud backup makes, and anything you buy in the App Store. Both are described below.

Backups

With Weffic Plus, Weffic backs itself up to your iCloud Drive. While iCloud backup is on, Weffic saves a copy of everything you've entered to a Weffic folder there, on days when something changes. Without Plus no new copy is made, and the copies already there stay, to open, restore or remove. The folder keeps a copy for each of the last 30 days, and one a month for a year before that. You can turn iCloud backup off, and remove every copy, in Settings › Import & backup › iCloud backup.

You can also make a backup file yourself in Settings › Import & backup. It goes where you save it: your own iCloud Drive, the Files app, or anywhere you send it.

Weffic keeps no copy of either, and has no way to open them. A file in iCloud Drive is kept by Apple, under your Apple Account and Apple's own privacy policy. The same is true if you back up your whole iPhone: Apple may include Weffic's data in that backup, as it does other apps'.

What Weffic receives

Mail you send

Settings › About › Write to us opens a mail in your own mail app, addressed to help@weffic.com, with Weffic's version as its subject. We receive what you send: your address, what you wrote, and anything you attach. We use it to answer you and to make Weffic better, and we delete it if you ask.

Weffic Plus

Weffic Plus is a subscription you buy from Apple with your Apple Account. Apple takes the payment and manages the subscription. Weffic asks the App Store whether Plus is on, and keeps the answer on your iPhone. Weffic has no server that records who bought it, and never sees your name or how you paid.

Figures from Apple

Apple gives every developer combined figures about downloads and sales, and crash reports from people who have agreed, in their iPhone's settings, to share them with app developers. They do not say who you are. If you try a beta through TestFlight, Apple runs it, and shares with us crash reports and any feedback you choose to send.

Crash reports, if you agree

As setup ends, Weffic asks whether to send crash reports. Nothing is sent until you say yes, and you can change the answer at any time in Settings › Privacy.

A report is sent only when something goes wrong: Weffic stops or freezes, a change can't be saved, or iOS reports that Weffic used too much of the processor or storage. It holds where in Weffic's code it happened, the names of the last few screens you were on, the versions of Weffic and iOS, the iPhone model, and its free memory and storage at the time.

A report never holds anything you've entered: no amounts, names, notes, accounts or categories. It holds no screenshot, no ID for your install or your iPhone, and no error message, since a message could quote an amount.

Reports go to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), which handles them only for Weffic, under its data processing agreement. Sentry stores them in the European Union, in Frankfurt, and deletes them after 30 days. Like any server, it sees the internet address a report comes from, and it is set not to store it. We use reports only to find and fix faults.

Your agreement is what this rests on. Turning crash reports off stops them and deletes any report still waiting on your iPhone. A report holds nothing that identifies you, so we can't find yours to delete it, and Sentry deletes it after 30 days.

No usage statistics

Weffic keeps no usage statistics: nothing counts which screens you open or what you do. If that ever changes, this page and Weffic's Privacy screen change first.

What Weffic does not do

  • It shows no ads.
  • It does not follow you across other apps or websites.
  • It does not sell or share anything about you.
  • It never asks for a bank login, and has no account to sign in to.

This website

These pages set no cookies and count no visits. Their type comes from weffic.com itself. One animation library comes from cdnjs, which Cloudflare runs, and it sees the internet address that asks for it, as on any site that uses it. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which keeps ordinary server logs.

Your choices

  • Stop the exchange-rate requests in Settings › Currency.
  • Turn crash reports on or off in Settings › Privacy.
  • Turn off iCloud backup, and remove its copies, in Settings › Import & backup › iCloud backup.
  • Settings › Import & backup › Start over deletes your transactions, accounts, holdings, contacts and repeating transactions. Your categories stay. Deleting Weffic from your iPhone deletes everything it kept there. Copies in your iCloud Drive stay there until you remove them.
  • Backup files are yours, to keep or delete wherever you saved them.
  • To have mail you sent us deleted, write to help@weffic.com.

Children

Weffic is a tool for keeping track of money and isn't aimed at children. It collects nothing that identifies anyone, children included.

What Weffic isn't

Weffic keeps track of what you enter and does the arithmetic. It isn't financial, tax or investment advice, and its figures (exchange rates, loan schedules, what a holding is worth) can differ from your bank's or lender's. Their statements are the record.
